Wasoqonatl Transmission Line

“Wasoqonatl” means Keep Light On in Mi’kmaq—reflecting both the purpose of this project and the spirit of partnership guiding its development.

Project Summary

  • The Wasoqonatl Transmission Line is a major component of the clean-energy transition, designed to strengthen the connection to the regional grid and support the integration of new renewable energy sources.
  • Built in collaboration with all 13 Mi’kmaq communities in Nova Scotia and all 9 Mi'gmaq communities in New Brunswick, this project will help the integration of more renewable energy exports, long-term reliability, and energy security for both residents of Nova Scotian and New Brunswick.
  • Work on this project has begun and construction is anticipated to be completed in late 2028.
